NEMA Type S starters represents the benchmark to which other starters are produced to meet NEMA standards. Square D has added solid state motor overload protection to the family. This technological migration allows Square D customers the ability to “make the same space smarter”, while preserving backward compatibility. The MotorLogic™ Solid State Overload is available as a separate overload, or as part of a starter in any of the open or enclosed configurations. Available in NEMA sizes 00 through 7, the family has earned a solid reputation that no imitation NEMA starter can equal. Today, their simplicity and flexibility continue to place Type S starters ahead of their competition. Class 8536 Type S magnetic starters are used for full voltage starting and stopping AC squirrel cage motors. Melting alloy type thermal overload relays provide motor overload protection. Class 8536 starters are available in NEMA Sizes 00-7. Type S starters are designed for operation at 600 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
