The from Texas Instruments is a high-performance, dual channel reinforced digital isolator with an integrated high efficiency power converter in 16 pin SOIC package. It helps to prevent noise currents on a data bus or other circuits from entering local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry. Device eliminates need for a separate isolated power supply in space constrained isolated designs. It is also suitable for very high voltage applications where power transformers meeting required isolation specifications are bulky and expensive.
